Dear IIUSA members: Our efforts are making a difference! All the letters, emails, faxes and phone calls from EB-5 regional centers to their members of Congress are starting to pay off; Congress is beginning to realize the need to make the EB-5 program permanent. We also have at least one more day to continue our efforts. The House-Senate conference committee originally scheduled to meet today has been postponed. We understand that House leaders are trying to resolve the immigration issues in the DHS appropriations bill tomorrow so that the final bill can then be voted on. By noon Wednesday, please email, phone or fax all of the following 4 key members of Congress:
1. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
SH-522 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-2803
Phone: 202-224-3542
Fax: 202-224-7327
Email: Serena Hoy at Serena_Hoy@reid.senate.gov
2. Senator Daniel K. Inouye (chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee)
SH-722 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-1102
Phone: 202-224-3934
Fax: 202-224-6717
Email: (Ms.) Van Luong at Van_Luong@inouye.senate.gov
3. House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi
235 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-0508
Phone: 202-225-0100
Fax: 202-225-4188
Email: Michael Tecklenburg at Michael.tecklenburg@mail.house.gov
4. Rep. David E. Price (chairman of the House Appropriations Committee Homeland Security subcommittee)
2162 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-3304
Phone: 202-225-1784
Fax: 202-225-2014
Email: Jean-Louise Beard, chief of staff, at jeanlouise.beard@mail.house.gov; and appropriations associate Paul Cox at paul.cox@mail.house.gov.
For each member, use the same talking points: we need a permanent extension of the EB-5 program now! A sample letter that I have just emailed these members of Congress is attached. Please modify it and add examples of the economic benefits your own regional center has created, is creating, or will create if the program is permanently extended, and the job losses that will occur in your area if Congress fails to extend the program. Feel free to forward to these four members of Congress copies of letters you have previously sent other members of Congress.
Please send Russell Cartwright and me copies of your emails or faxes, so that we can follow up directly with these four offices. And please ask your own members of Congress to follow up themselves directly with these four key members of Congress.
Our goal is to get 100 emails, faxes, or phone calls to each of these offices by noon Wednesday. With your help we can do it!
Thanks, Steve Yale-Loehr and Russell Cartwright
